In 1996, a Professional Development Committee was established to create a process
to recognize child care practitioners as professionals.
The committee developed a Career Ladder that was divided into specific Levels and Core
Knowledge Elements and Competencies.
A collaboration between the Association for Supportive Child Care (ASCC) and Child &
Family Resources, Inc. (C&FR) was created to operate the
SCCEEDS
program statewide.
Beginning in May 2002, orientations were conducted throughout the state to inform the
child care and early education profession about the SCCEEDS
Program. Registration applications were available shortly thereafter.
