About Niños en Mi Casa
The Niños en Mi Casa Program recruits, trains, and offers financial assistance to low to moderate level income individuals to start a child care business in their home and complete state certification. Certification is provided through the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Child Care Administration (DES/CCA)
Funding for the Niños en Mi Casa Program is provided by:
- Maricopa County
- Arizona Department of Economic Security, Child Care Administration
- Valley of the Sun United Way
- Reading is Fundamental Federal Funds
- Coconino County
- Arizona Department of Economic Security, Child Care Administration
What the Niños en Mi Casa Program Provides
- Assistance with the process of state certification, working with applicants in the privacy of their own home
- One-on-one technical assistance
- Financial assistance with the start-up costs associated with the certification process (e.g., fingerprint clearances on adult household members, fire extinguishers, immunization updates, TB testing, CPR/First Aid certification, etc.)
- Eight (8) hours of Developmentally Appropriate Practice and Business training
- A Resource Lending Library, a Mentor Program, and the opportunity to participate in three (3) Reading is Fundamental (RIF) events for providers participating in the Niños program (RIF is available to providers in Maricopa County only)
Eligibility
Any interested individual, residing in Maricopa or Coconino Counties, wishing to obtain state certification is eligible to participate in the Niños en Mi Casa Program.
